Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has alleged that efforts are being made to politically sideline former prime minister Imran Khan, warning that public reaction cannot be controlled if citizens choose to protest.
Speaking to the media, the KP chief minister claimed that multiple institutions appear focused on forcing Imran Khan into submission.
“All institutions seem to be engaged in trying to make Imran Khan bow,” he said, adding that such actions only intensify public sentiment rather than suppress it.
Sohail Afridi further stated that the people of Pakistan cannot be prevented from exercising what they believe to be their constitutional rights. Referring to PTI supporters, he remarked, “If PTI workers decide to come out, even we will not be able to stop them.”
He went on to present a hypothetical scenario, saying that if the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were to take to the streets and shut down the province in protest, law enforcement would face a difficult position.
“If the people of KP come out and stage a province-wide shutdown, my police will not stop them, because they would be demanding what they see as their rightful cause,” he said.
