The late, legendary Qawwal Amjad Sabri's son Mujadid Sabri expressed disappointment over the insensitive treatment he and his family received from television channels following his father's tragic demise.
Amjad Sabri was fatally shot in Karachi on June 22, 2016.
In a recent interview, Mujadid revealed how the media exploited his family for ratings and coverage.
“Of course, as a family, we have been exploited by the TC channels. After attending TV programmes we saw there were media channels vans parked out of our house constantly," he said.
"From 2016 to 2017, I don’t remember a single day when we weren’t surrounded by people, and there was no private time” he recalled, describing that the overwhelming public exposure forced them to relocate to Lahore.
Mujadid further shared that the exploitation was deeply upsetting, adding that reporters even asked insensitive questions, such as whether they missed their father.

“I even called out a famous channel’s anchor, asking if their father was alive. I told them that if he was, I would ask the same question when he was no more,” he said,
Subsequently, he said, “We moved to Lahore just to avoid exessive limelight and exposure.”
Qawwali singer Amjad Sabri was shot dead in 2016 by unidentified assailants near his home in Liaquatabad. Later, a military court sentenced two militant of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi to death on charges of their involvement in the murder.
