Pakistan's star javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, has shared his plans to perform Umrah with his family, including his mother, father, wife and children, after receiving the cash prizes announced for his historic gold medal win at the Paris Olympics 2024.

"Before the Olympics, I had promised my family that I would take them to perform Umrah. Now, I will fulfill that promise after receiving rewards," he said in an interview with a local news channel.

"I have not received the prize money yet. My manager, Salman Iqbal Butt, will keep track of the funds and ensure everything is in order," he added.

Arshad made the country proud on August 8 when he threw a javelin at the record-breaking spot of 92.97 metres at the Paris Olympics 2024.

The throw made him able to end Pakistan's 40-year wait for an individual gold medal at the Summer Games.

Following his victory, several politicians and celebrities announced rewards for Arshad for bringing honour to the country.

Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab also announced a reward of Rs50 million and plans to open a sports academy in Arshad's name.

In addition to the reward, Wahab also announced plans to open a sports academy in Arshad Nadeem's name.

The Governors of Sindh and Punjab, Kamran Tessori and Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, have also announced a reward of Rs2 million each.

Renowned singer Ali Zafar offered a Rs1 million cash prize and urged the government of Pakistan “to welcome him like a hero and establish a sports academy in his name.”

Mayor Sukkur Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh said that a gold crown will be awarded to Arshad for his remarkable achievement.

Business tycoon and CEO ARY Salman Iqbal announced a luxurious apartment for the sports legend from his residential project.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has also announced a reward of $50,000 (PKR10.39 million) for the gold medal winners at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
