Asad Qaiser, Shibli Faraz at odds over Marwat's removal from PTI committee

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seniour leaders Asad Qaiser and Shibli Faraz came face to face over Sher Afzal Marwat’s removal from the party position. 

The incident happened during the meeting of the political committee of PTI when the former National Assembly speaker expressed his support for Marwat. 

Asad Qaiser said that the removal of Sher Afzal from the political committee was an injustice to the party. 

Responding to the PTI lawmaker, Shibli Faraz said, "Who are you to speak on party policy and issues?

In response, Qasier replied: "You [Shibli] have joined a party for a few years. I have been with the PTI founder since 1995."

"Who are you to talk to me like this? The way the political committee was used against Sher Afzal Marwat is an injustice," Qaiser added.

Sources said that the political committee asked Shibli to apologise to Qaiser after the heated argument.

On May 9, PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan announced that Marwat was expelled from the party’s core and political committees on the directives of party founder Imran Khan.

The development came after the outspoken leader refused to work with Omar Ayun and Shibli Faraz.

Later, Marwat was issued a show-cause notice for violating the party’s code of conduct and policy.

The notice said that Marwat made irresponsible statements that harmed the party’s reputation and interests.
