At least eight people lost their lives, and many others were injured in various rain-related incidents across the country, as reported on Saturday night.

Heavy monsoon rains caused significant damage in regions such as Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Toba Achakzai, Qilla Abdullah, Ziarat, Pishin, Chaman, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, and other parts of the country.

The torrential downpours triggered flash floods, which damaged homes, destroyed crops, and swept away roads and bridges in several areas. Additionally, the collapse of roofs and boundary walls in multiple houses resulted in further injuries, with at least 10 people hurt in different parts of Balochistan.

In Chaman, flash floods washed away a railway track, while another track in Noshki was damaged, severing the rail connection between Pakistan and Iran.

On Saturday, scattered rains also drenched Lahore, and the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted cloudy weather with the likelihood of more rain within the next 24 hours.

The previous day, Faisalabad experienced 131 millimeters of rainfall, transforming the harsh, sweltering weather into a more pleasant atmosphere while causing knee-deep water accumulation in low-lying areas.

According to a Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) spokesperson, Madina Town recorded the highest rainfall at 131mm, followed by 91mm in Ghulam Muhammad Abad, 79mm in Allama Iqbal Colony, 78mm in Gulistan Colony, and 74mm in Dogar Basti.

Meanwhile, Sukkur was plunged into darkness after receiving 180mm of rain last night.
