The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) announced the abolition of the scrutiny fee for Intermediate Part-I students seeking a review of their examination papers.
This decision by the BIEK came after students demanded that the board waive off the entire fee. They argue that it is unfair to charge Rs1,000 for the scrutiny of a single paper.
Previously, the authorities had provided a 50% discount to students on the scrutiny of papers from the 2024 Intermediate Part-I annual examination in Science, Pre-Engineering, General Science, Home Economics, Private Commerce, and Private Arts groups.
However, in a recent development, the board announced the abolition of the entire scrutiny fee. Furthermore, a facilitation desk has been established at the inquiry window to assist students in collecting and submitting scrutiny forms
Following a severe outrage from the students, the BIEK constituted a 12-member inquiry committee, comprising senior teachers to address students’ concerns about results.
The examination controller directed the committee to complete scrutiny within 30 days and instructed the students to download an official scrutiny form from the website.
However, the acting BIEK Chairman Syed Sharaf Ali Shah, believed that the majority of complaints were inaccurate and students did not attend the classes, which resulted in their failure.
