Water tanker runs over child waiting for mother outside home in Karachi's Orangi Town

A young child sitting outside his home in Karachi was tragically killed when a speeding water tanker lost control in the street, rescue officials said.
The incident occurred in Karachi’s Orangi Town, Sector 11, where Arsalan, 7, was waiting for his mother outside his home with another child when a speeding water tanker suddenly appeared and ran over him.
As both children were about to be run over, the other child was saved by his mother, who pulled him away at the last moment. However, Arsalan could not be rescued.
“I could only save my child,” the woman said, adding, “When I pulled my son away, Arsalan unexpectedly stepped in front of the tanker and was run over.”

The tanker driver fled from the spot. The police took the tanker into custody, but the driver has not yet been arrested.
Following the incident, locals staged a protest, demanding justice for the victim and the arrest of the driver.
The police said the deceased was the youngest of three siblings, while the mother was working as a maid to run her family’s household, and the father was drug addicted.
In another incident involving a heavy vehicle, a speeding water tanker struck and killed a four-year-old boy named Aliyan in Orangi Town on Friday evening.
According to police, the tanker driver fled the scene after the accident.

In a separate incident, a man and his young wife were run over and killed by a dumper truck in the wee hours of Friday morning in Sultanabad.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza said that the couple was on a motorcycle when the heavy vehicle struck them at around 2:30 am.
The man identified as Bilal Sohail, 18, sustained critical injuries and died on the spot, while his wife, Meher, was wounded, but succumbed to her injuries during treatment in Karachi’s Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital.
The driver fled from the scene with his dumper.
