Former first lady Bushra Bibi  Monday complained of rats in her cell at Adiala Jail.

She said this during the hearing of the '190 million pound' reference case.

During the proceedings, the court expressed frustration over the continuous delays, pointing out that while the courthouse is frequently used for media interactions and meetings with political leaders, the actual legal process has made little progress.

The court highlighted that over 200 staff members, including prosecution teams, are involved in the case, yet the persistent non-attendance of defense lawyers has stalled the proceedings.

A request from the defense to delay the hearing until September 3 was denied, with the court granting one final opportunity for the cross-examination to occur on the next scheduled date.

NAB lawyers urged the court to proceed with the cross-examination, noting that despite 12 attorneys being listed on the case, none have come forward to complete the process. The present defense lawyers, however, insisted that only the lead attorneys could conduct the cross-examination, further prolonging the delay.

In an unexpected development during the hearing, Bushra Bibi, who was present in court, addressed the judge with a personal concern.

She revealed that her barracks had been infested with rats for the past three months, stating, "When I pray, rats fall from the roof."
