Celebratory firing on chand raat leaves 12 injured in Karachi

Karachi witnessed multiple incidents of aerial firing following the sighting of the Shawwal moon, resulting in injuries to at least 12 people, including women and children.
According to Express News, celebratory gunfire erupted in various parts of the city, including Qasba New Mianwali Colony, North Nazimabad Hyderi Market, Orangi Qasba Mor, Frontier Colony, Lyari Hangoraabad, Ranchore Line Ramswami, and Orangi Town Sector 11 near Farooq Azam Mosque.
Among the injured was a 9-year-old girl, Asiya, who was struck by a stray bullet in Orangi Town’s Qasba Mor. In Orangi Town Sector 11, a 35-year-old woman, Nosheen, was also wounded, while an 11-year-old girl, Iram, sustained injuries from a stray bullet.
Additionally, a man named Mansoor was injured in Nazimabad No. 1, and 16-year-old Waheed was wounded in Baldia’s Qaumkhani Colony due to aerial firing. All victims were transported to hospitals for treatment, and their conditions are reported to be stable.

Meanwhile, police arrested a suspect in Sultanabad, Manghopir, for engaging in aerial firing on Chaand Raat. SSP West Tariq Ilahi Mastoi confirmed the arrest and reiterated that such reckless acts endanger lives and will not be tolerated.
