In a heartbreaking yet miraculous incident, a child survived a deadly car crash near Babusar Top in the Kaghan Valley, while both parents tragically lost their lives. The accident took place in the early hours of June 24 when the family’s car veered off the road and plunged into a 300-feet-deep ravine.

Locals discovered the wrecked vehicle lying near the bank of the Kunhar River, with the bodies of a man and a woman just a few feet away. Remarkably, their child was found nearby, sitting quietly against a rock with only minor scratches.

Station House Officer (SHO) Raja Sajid of Kaghan Police Station, who arrived at the scene with his team, expressed astonishment over the child’s survival.

“It’s rare to see someone, especially a child, survive such a horrific crash with only minor injuries,” he said.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Jamshed and his wife, residents of the Hazro area in Attock district, though they were currently living in Hong Kong. The family had arrived in Pakistan just 25 days earlier for a visit.

The child’s maternal uncle, Adil Ayaz, took custody of both the bodies and the child. He stated that Jamshed had left Hazro with his family around 10 or 11 pm on Wednesday night.

“My sister and brother-in-law lived in Hong Kong and only visited Pakistan occasionally,” he shared.

SHO Raja Sajid added that the road in the area is in good condition and not known for frequent accidents, especially since traffic is usually light during the night.

He suspected that the accident happened between 2:30 am and 3:00 am, likely due to the driver falling asleep behind the wheel after a long overnight journey.

According to Adil Hussain, a relative who lives near the accident site, the protective wall on that section of the road had collapsed during the winter and had not been repaired. When he arrived at the scene, locals and police were already trying to rescue the victims.

“When we reached the site, we saw the car badly damaged and two bodies lying 10 to 15 feet away. The child was sitting silently beside a stone, looking at the wreckage. He didn’t cry or react, it was as if he was in shock,” he said.

The child was given immediate first aid and later taken to safety. Despite the trauma, he miraculously sustained no serious injuries.

“Everyone at the scene kept asking, How is this even possible?” said Adil Hussain.

Adil said given the presence of wild animals in the area at night, the fact that the child remained unharmed is nothing short of a miracle.
