CM Maryam Nawaz bars police from blocking roads for her protocol

A day after taking the oath as the first female Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz barred the provincial police from blocking roads for her protocol.
The newly elected Chief Minister directed local officials to enhance traffic management in the city to minimise inconvenience for Lahore residents.
Having entered parliamentary politics and assuming the helm of governance in Punjab, Maryam Nawaz began work immediately following her oath-taking ceremony at Governor's House on Monday.
She prioritised public safety by holding her first meeting on law and order in Punjab. She then paid a surprise visit to Lahore's Shalimar Police Station.
The PML-N seniour vice-president outlined several key initiatives in her inaugural speech. These included a dedicated helpline for women's safety, 'Nigheban'. Ramzan relief package of Rs 6.5 to 7 million for the underprivileged and offering subsidies on essential items.
“Harassing any woman is Maryam Nawaz’s red line,” she said during her victory speech in the Punjab Assembly.
