An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad has rejected Imran Khan’s plea, seeking at least one WhatsApp call to his sons Sulaiman Khan and Kasim Khan in a week.

ATC Judge Malik Aijaz Asif heard the plea of the former prime minister at a local court in the federal capital.

During the proceeding, the administration of Adiala Jail submitted its response to Khan's petition.

“There is no law in the Jail manual that allows prisoners to talk with their family members or relatives on WhatsApp,” said the Jail authorities in their reply.

It added that the veteran politician was allowed to talk to his sons twice a month.

Following the prison administration’s response, the court rejected the plea of Mr Imran Khan.

On October 18, 2023, an ATC in Rawalpindi had ordered the jail administration to arrange a call facility for Imran Khan to his sons.

The first WhatsApp call from Adiala to Imran Khan’s sons was made on October 21, 2023, it was a 30-minute long call.

According to the sources, the jail superintendent had arranged the call from 4:30pm to 5:00pm.

They added that the cricketer-turned-politician had become emotional while talking to his sons and their mother, residing in the United Kingdom.

It's pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan has been in prison since August last year.
