The Ministry of Defence has requested an additional quota in the civil service for military officers who sustained injuries and disabilities during the war on terror.

With 10% of civil service positions already reserved for armed forces officers through the Federal Public Service Commission, the Ministry sought to expand their allocation.

The Ministry of Defence wrote a letter to the Establishment Division on March 29, 2023,  to consider inducting injured or disabled military officers into the Commerce and Trade Group and the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service.

The existing 10% quota proves insufficient to accommodate the numerous soldiers who sustained physical disabilities while serving their country during the war on terror, rendering them unable to effectively perform their duties due to medical limitations, the ministry maintained.

In its letter, the ministry called for the integration of war-disabled officers into professional service groups, focusing on placements in the Security Group and particularly within the Ministry of Defence.
