Karachi University’s Professor Dr Saima Saleem was honoured with the Woman of the Year 2024 award by the Russian House in Pakistan for her ‘exceptional contributions to the field of biological sciences’.

Dr Saima has been serving as the secretary of the Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World — Pakistan National Chapter, and is also associated with KU’s Dr AQ Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering.

The Russian Centre for Science and Culture, also known as Friendship House, was built by the Russian government to promote cultural exchange activities between both countries.

The Woman of the Year award accolade underscores Professor Saima Saleem’s exceptional contribution to the field of biological sciences and unwavering commitment to empowering women in Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (Stem).
