A severe cold wave has continued for the third day in Karachi and across Sindh on Saturday, with temperatures dropping further and residents feeling the chill.
According to PMD, in parts of Karachi, early-morning mercury fell into single digits, with the lowest temperature reaching around 7.4 °C in Bin Qasim and Mauripur.
Meteorologists claim that chilly winds from Balochistan and a western weather system intensified the chill. The feels-like temperatures got even lower as cold winds blew across the city.
The cold intensified after light rain on Thursday afternoon, contributing to sharper nighttime temperature drops, PMD officials said.
Furthermore, the PMD has reported that cold nights and strong winds are likely to persist over the coming days, prolonging the chilly weather.
Meanwhile, in the rural areas of Sindh, temperatures were even more severe, with some areas outside Karachi recording near or below freezing temperatures. The cold grip across the province is likely to persist over the weekend.
