Following the investigation of complaints regarding snatching and damage to voting materials, the Election Commission of Pakistan issued directives for re-polling at various polling stations nationwide.
Having successfully navigated the challenging phases of conducting nationwide elections on February 8, the poll organizing authority is now in the process of announcing final vote results, with the compilation process ongoing for over 48 hours.
Complaints about the snatching and damage of voting material in certain polling stations prompted the commission to postpone the voting process, leading to a subsequent order for re-polling on February 15.
The results for these polling stations will be announced after the completion of the re-polling event.
The constituencies and the number of polling stations where re-polling was ordered are as follows:
NA-88 Khushab-II — Punjab
Re-polling will take place in 26 polling stations due to the destruction of voting material by an unruly crowd.
PS-18 Ghotki-I — Sindh
Re-polling has been scheduled for two polling stations in this constituency where unidentified individuals snatched voting material on the election day.
PK-90 Kohat-I — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The ECP mandated re-polling in 25 polling stations within this constituency after terrorists damaged the voting material on the day of the poll.
Simultaneously, the electoral body instructed the regional election commissioner to submit a probe report within three days following complaints of vandalism at a polling station in NA-242 Karachi Keamari-I — Sindh.
Earlier, parties that had previously held parliamentary roles raised concerns about the credibility of results due to delays, despite assurances from the election commission regarding the timely release of official results.
