Pakistan Peoples Party leader Shehla Raza claimed that former DG ISI Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed had also contacted Asif Zardari to make him the new Chief of Army Staff.
Speaking on Geo News' program Capital Talk, Shehla Raza said that it was said that a long-term plan has been made with Faiz Hameed. Faiz Hameed had also approached Asif Zardari to become the army chief.
Shehla Raza said that the PTI has withdrawn its reservations on the 26th constitutional amendment. The PTI is demanding the formation of the commission only on May 9 and November 26.
The PPP leader said that three meetings of the CCI should have been held, not one was called. Our complaint is that canals are being taken out of the Indus River and we were not even asked.
It is to be noted that the former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed was formally charged with engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act, compromising national security, misusing authority and government resources, and causing harm to individuals.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) has been initiated against the former spymaster.
According to the military’s media wing, Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed is being afforded all legal rights under the law during the proceedings.
The ISPR further revealed that a separate investigation is underway to examine his alleged role in violent incidents that fueled chaos and unrest in the country, including those linked to May 9.
