Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry, who parted ways with Imran Khan following the May 9 riots, confirmed that he is still part of the former ruling party.

The former federal minister made the remarks while talking to the media inside the premises of an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi.

He came to the court to appear in several cases related to the May 9 attacks, in which many military and civil installations were allegedly attacked by PTI supporters and workers following Imran Khan's arrest in a corruption case.

"Today we have come to the court in connection with all the May 9 cases, we are going through a difficult situation," Chaudhry said who was accompanied by former PTI chief whip Shireen Mazari.

When asked about his possible reinduction into PTI, the former information said: "Those who leave something return to it."

However, Fawad urged PTI to hold negotiations with all the stakeholders including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman.

Earlier it was revealed by the sources that the former prime minister would make an official announcement about Fawad's reinduction into PTI after meeting him in Adiala jail.

According to sources, the decision was taken by Imran Khan after his party's Punjab chapter faced a leadership crisis in Pakistan's biggest province.

"Khan needs someone to fill the void and he has chosen Fawad Chaudhry following his incarceration and refusal to become an approver against Imran," sources added.

Fawad was one of many PTI leaders who had left the party following violence in the country on May 9, 2023, when the 71-year-old politician was arrested in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.

Although Fawad had said at the time that he was “taking a break from politics”, he was seen at the launch ceremony of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) in June.

However, Fawad had cleared the air that he had not joined any political party.

He was arrested from Islamabad on November 4 in a corruption case and after facing 5-month custody, Fawad was released from Adiala jail on April 6.
