Speaking at the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar hoped that Pakistan’s mediation in peace negotiations between the US and Iran aimed at ending the Middle East conflict would advance further and conclude successfully, calling it crucial for peace in the world and world economy.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar briefed the diplomatic community and ambassadors at the function arranged at the Foreign Office in Islamabad in connection with the first anniversary of “Marka-e-Haq.”
Pakistan had facilitated ceasefire through its mediating role and helped restore peace in the Gulf countries and the Middle East region, according to him.
Recalling the peace talks between Iran and US in Islamabad, he observed that Pakistan had facilitated positive developments in the talks by ensuring agreement among the two sides on ceasefire after their initial meeting in 47 years.
“It is nice to mention that there were very positive developments and steps which were taken forward, but the parties needed to return to their respective capitals for consultations,” FM Dar stated.
Expressing thanks to both sides, he said it was necessary to complete the task with dignity since it was required by the region.
The deputy prime minister expressed gratitude to both sides, adding that the top priority was to conclude the matter in a dignified manner, as it was the need of the region.
He said Pakistan’s objective was to continue engaging both sides as an honest facilitator and mediator to negotiate and reach a peaceful settlement. “This is needed for the region, this is needed for the globe, this is needed for the economy of the world,” he said.
