Funeral prayers for the victims of a suicide attack at an imambargah in Islamabad were offered on Saturday.

A large number of people attended the funeral prayers held at Jamia Sadiq Imambargah in G-9 and were led by its khateeb, Sheikh Muhammad Shifa Najafi. Inspector General of Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi attended the funeral prayers, while Imamia Scouts presented a salute to the martyrs.

Strict security arrangements were put in place on the occasion, with a heavy police contingent deployed at the venue.

The attack that took place at Imambargah Qasr-i-Khadijatul Kubra killed at least 31 people and wounded over 150 others.

The attacker blew himself up after being stopped at the gate of the mosque. Witnesses said that the explosion occurred as prayers were just starting.
