Gang rape suspect killed in 'police encounter' in Lahore

The main suspect in a gang rape case reported in Lahore's Gujarpura area was killed in an alleged police encounte.

According to media reports, a team of the Crime Control Department (CCD) conducted a raid in Harbanspura to arrest the suspect. The police claimed the suspect opened fire upon seeing the raiding party, prompting retaliatory fire.

The suspect was killed during the exchange of gunfire, while efforts are underway to trace and arrest his alleged accomplices.

The police stated that the victim was allegedly taken to agricultural fields and sexually assaulted by the suspects, who also reportedly recorded videos of the incident.

The case pertains to an incident that allegedly occurred about a month ago in Gujarpura. 

The police registered a case against three suspects. According to the complainant, the matter was not initially reported due to concerns over family honour, but legal action was later pursued after the suspects allegedly continued blackmailing the victim.
