Several hotels and houses at the popular tourist destination, Naran, were buried under ice after two glaciers burst in the area.
A spokesperson of the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) said that the collapse of the Ghamla and Chapran glaciers on Jheel Road in Naran destroyed several hotels and houses.
"The government agencies have not yet been able to gather data on the losses because the area is covered with a heavy layer of ice," he added.
KDA Director General Mohammad Shabir Khan stated that the authority held an emergency meeting and formed a team to assess the damage.
The authorities also reported that the collapse of the glaciers blocked the road to Naran, making it difficult to reach the area. However, the rescue teams are working to restore the road.
Khan said the KDA would assist locals in every possible way as they lost their homes and properties.
