The federal government has announced a three-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr, from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2, as per a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.

Meanwhile, provincial governments have yet to announce their respective holiday schedules for the festive occasion.

A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has been called in Islamabad on Sunday, March 30, to sight the moon of Shawwal.

The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, where the Shawwal moon will be sighted as well as testimonies will be received from across the country.

Religious scholars, meteorologists and others will participate in the meeting. The date of Eid-ul-Fitr celebration in Pakistan will be announced in case the moon is sighted or not.

According to meteorologists, the current Ramadan is likely to consist of 29 days and Eid-ul-Fitr can be on March 31.
