Police have registered a case against a man for making abusive remarks against President Asif Ali Zardari and assaulting a Pakistan Peoples Party Worker in Hafizabad police.

Reports said the man, identified as Zulfiqar Ali Butt, was booked on a complaint lodged by Muhammad Arshad Mahand, regional Secretary General of Pakistan Peoples Party.

The complainant said But had made the abusive remarks around 12 months ago.

The City police have launched an investigation into the matter while the suspect is yet to be arrested.

In March 2024, seasoned Pakistani politician Asif Ali Zardari took oath as President of Pakistan for second time.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa had administered oath newly-elected president of the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, service chiefs, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, governors, chief ministers, and top diplomats had attended the high profile ceremony.

PPP co-chairman, the joint candidate of ruling alliance, had clinched the election for the second time, outclassing PTI-backed candidate Mahmood Achakzai by leading margin.
