The cost of performing Hajj is expected to rise next year, with intending pilgrims likely to pay up to Rs100,000 more for the short Hajj package, media reports said, citing sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
They said that the 20 to 22-day short Hajj package is expected to cost around Rs1.3 million, up by Rs100,000 compared with last year's package.
The 40-day long Hajj package is also likely to become more expensive, with its price expected to increase by Rs50,000 to approximately Rs1.2 million, the sources added.
The government is also expected to allow pilgrims to pay Hajj expenses in two instalments of Rs600,000 each, providing greater financial flexibility.
Last year, the short Hajj package cost around Rs1.2 million, while the long Hajj package was priced at approximately Rs1.15 million.
