The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notices to the federal as well as provincial authorities on a petition filed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi seeking meeting with incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala jail.
An IHC bench comprising Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir struck down the registrar's objections regarding the maintainbility of the petition.
After an initial hearing, the judge issued notices to the respondents - the interior secretary, the Punjab home secretary, the inspector general of police, and the superintendent of Adiala jail - to file their replies to the petition by next hearing set for October 23.

CM Afridi approached the IHC on Oct 17 after assuming the office of the province's chief executive.
His counsel Ali Bukhari contended before the judge that the registrar's office had raised objections to the petition, requesting the judge to remove these objections and issue notice to the respondents.
The chief minister stated in his petition that he wanted to meet the PTI chief to discuss the formation of his cabinet and seek his guidance on various matters concerning the province.
He said that he represented a population of 45 million people, adding that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa voted for the PTI in the 2024 polls and gave the party mandate to rule the province.
