Lawyers of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have prepared their appeals to challenge the verdict announced against them in the Toshakhana-II case.

The appeals will be filed in the Islamabad High Court.

The appeals against the decision of the Special Judge Central are expected to be filed on Monday. Two separate appeals will be filed through Barrister Salman Safdar, seeking to have the verdict set aside.

According to the contents of the appeals, the trial court relied on the testimony of Inamullah Shah, who had already been dismissed from service, as well as that of an approver, which, the appellants argue, could not legally be relied upon.

The appeals state that the prosecution failed to establish its case against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, adding that a person cannot be punished multiple times for the same offence and that the Special Central Court lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter.

The petitions further contend that Sohaib Abbasi was unlawfully made an approver and that the Bulgarian jewellery set was retained by the former ruling couple in accordance with Toshakhana rules. It is also argued that the case was registered without proper investigation and that the proceedings are a result of political victimisation.

The appeals also maintain that the petitioner does not fall within the definition of a public servant, making the action taken against them contrary to law.
