Former German journalist and author Kristiane Backer addressed a PTI rally outside 10 Downing Street in London, calling for the release of former prime minister Imran Khan, whom she described as being imprisoned unlawfully.
“Pakistan has a very special place in my heart, and so does Imran Khan because he gave me the greatest gift of faith (imaan),” she said.
Kristiane expressed her sadness over Imran Khan’s imprisonment, stating, “I am deeply saddened to learn about his imprisonment. He doesn’t deserve this.”
“He is a man of God, a man of faith. I hope he will be freed as a matter of absolute urgency,” she added.
Backer also urged international leaders to advocate for Imran Khan’s release, emphasising that his detention is unjust. “Let him live with dignity. Free Imran Khan. Pakistan Zindabad,” she concluded.
