A judicial commission has been formed to investigate the murder of young businessman Mir Raza Ali, with Sindh High Court Chief Justice nominating Justice Umar Sial to head the commission.

The registrar of the Sindh High Court confirmed Justice Umar Sial’s appointment as chairman of the commission, which was constituted on the Sindh government’s request.

The inquiry will be conducted under the Sindh Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance, 1969. The commission will examine the legal and constitutional aspects of the investigation, assess its transparency and determine the facts surrounding Mir Raza’s death.

The decision to form the commission came after concerns raised by Mir Raza’s family over the investigation. His bullet-riddled body was found in Gulistan-e-Johar on July 29.

The case had initially been investigated by a police team. The Sindh government later sought a judicial commission to ensure a transparent probe.

However, Mir Raza’s family has rejected the formation of the judicial commission a day earlier.
