Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has said that he and his party leaders are ready to hold talks with the country's army, sources said on Tuesday.
According to sources, the former prime minister announced his decision while talking to journalists at Adiala jail during the hearing of a case.
"We are ready to sit on a negotiation table with the army. The army should appoint its representative, we will hold talks," the veteran politician said.
The cricketer-turned-politician further said that he has never accused the army but "only offered constructive criticism".
The PTI founder also lashed out at Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and declared him a "tout of the military".
"If [the] army appoints Mohsin Naqvi as their representative, will you hold talks with him?" a reporter asked Mr Khan.
Blaming Naqvi for torturing PTI workers following May 9 riots, Imran Khan said he will never indulge in dialogues with the former caretaker chief minister of Punjab.
The 72-year-old politician also termed the first woman CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz as a "fascist".
Earlier in May, DG Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif sought a sincere and public apology from the jailed PTI founder.
The military's spokesperson also asked Mr Khan to shun “politics of anarchy and hate” to revive his political fortunes.
In response, the ousted prime minister rejected the army's demand and asked them to apologise to him.
"Why should the onus be on me to apologise? The apology should be directed towards me," he said.
