Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has predicted that new elections will be held in December, asking the nation to prepare to cast their votes.
His message was conveyed by the party secretary general Omar Ayub Khan while addressing a press conference outside Adiala jail after meeting Imran Khan.
"The nation should prepare for new elections because they will lead to the country's development," Omar Ayub said quoting the former prime minister.
"[PM] Shehbaz Sharif and the current government are trying to pit the army against the masses and PTI but 90 percent of Pakistan’s population supports PTI and stands by Imran Khan," he added.
The opposition leader said that Imran Khan has also decided to take legal action over the alleged disappearance of footage from recent incidents, including the May 9 protests and the March 14 raid at Zaman Park.
"The Islamabad commissioner had cancelled PTI's rally permit, but we plan to hold another rally on August 5, which will be led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur."
Reacting to the military spokesperson's recent presser, Ayub said: "The press conference held by the director general of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) should have been conducted by the interior or foreign minister. They have forced the army to act as their spokesperson."
He also demanded the release of all PTI prisoners, including Imran Khan, who is incarcerated in Adiala jail despite getting relief in sentences handed down to him in several cases.
