Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan will be released from jail in 2025, but his political career will come to an end.

Speaking to a local news channel, Saeed Ghani said the future of PTI lies in its own hands, yet the party has shown that it is better at destroying itself.

The minister also predicted a reduction in political instability in the new year, adding that Pakistan's economy would see improvement in 2025.

Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 5, 2023, following his conviction in the Toshakhana case.

Subsequently, he was implicated in several other cases and faced trials in various courts. While he has been acquitted in some cases and granted bail in others, he remains incarcerated in Adiala Jail

On November 24, 2024, PTI supporters organised a protest march from Peshawar to Islamabad, demanding Imran Khan's release and addressing other grievances.

The demonstration turned violent when PTI workers clashed with police and law enforcement agencies, leading to additional cases being registered against them.

Despite numerous protests over the past 16 months, Imran Khan remains behind bars.

Negotiations between the government and PTI, which began last month, have seen two rounds of discussions so far, but no significant breakthrough has been reported.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai stated that the party would not back down from its two key demands and set a deadline of January 30 for the government to engage in negotiations.

Yousafzai outlined that PTI’s agenda for talks includes the release of all arrested workers and the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26.

He stressed that the talks would only proceed if these demands were met.

He further mentioned that the civil disobedience movement initiated by Imran Khan continues, and while the government committee’s actions have been serious, the movement could be reconsidered if the two demands are met. Otherwise, he warned, the movement would persist.
