Muslims across Pakistan are observing Youm-e-Shahadat Hazrat Umar (R.A) today (Muharram 1), commemorating the martyrdom of the second caliph of Islam.
Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (R.A) was a close companion of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and played a pivotal role in the spread of Islam.
Hazrat Umar (R.A) was born in 583 CE and was known for his justice, compassion, and leadership.
He was appointed as the second caliph in 634 CE and ruled for nearly a decade, during which he expanded the Islamic empire, established a strong administrative system, and promoted education and justice.
Hazrat Umar (R.A) was martyred in 644 CE while performing Fajr prayers in the Grand Mosque of Madina.
His death was a major loss to the Muslim community, and he was buried next to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Madina.
Religious gatherings and processions are being held across the country, where scholars and clerics are paying tribute to Hazrat Umar's (R.A) life and legacy.
Muslims are also offering special prayers and reciting the Holy Quran to seek blessings and guidance.
