US News and World Report released its annual list of best countries for quality of life on Friday, ranking 89 nations based on various factors such as security, income, political stability, education system, healthcare system, job market, inflation, and other aspects.

The rankings were determined through a global survey of 17,000 people conducted from March 22 to May 23, 2024.

According to the report, Denmark emerged as the top country for quality of life, jumping from fourth position in 2023.

Denmark offers its citizens a high standard of living, with free treatment facilities, subsidised childcare services, and free university education.

This is not the first time Denmark has been recognised for its exceptional quality of life; earlier, it was also named the best country in the world for people who want to work abroad.

In a July 2024 InterNations survey, an impressive 84 percent expats working in Denmark expressed satisfaction with their work-life balance.

Following Denmark, Sweden secured the second spot, dropping from its first-place ranking last year.

However, in the overall ranking, Switzerland took first place, while Japan, the United States, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Denmark ranked second to tenth, respectively.

In Asia, Japan was named the best country for quality of life. Singapore and South Korea ranked 23rd and 25th, respectively, while China secured the 26th spot.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) emerged as the top country in the Middle East, ranking 17th overall. Qatar and Saudi Arabia followed closely, ranking 25th and 32nd, respectively.

However, Pakistan was noticeably absent from the list of 89 best countries for quality of life. India ranked 33, Sri Lanka 55, and Bangladesh 71.
