During his official visit to Pakistan, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated that India has not presented any evidence to support the allegations it leveled against Pakistan.

“I do not expect India to share its national security matters with me,” he said.

Referring to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Lammy described the incident as "horrific" and reiterated that the UK condemns all forms of terrorism. He extended condolences to the victims and their families.

Lammy acknowledged that Pakistan, too, has suffered from terrorism, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that extremism does not gain ground.

He praised both Pakistani and Indian leadership for playing a “commendable role” in maintaining the ceasefire agreement, adding that the UK is working with international partners to preserve regional peace.

“I am the first British Foreign Secretary to visit Pakistan in four years,” Lammy noted, adding that he aims to discuss bilateral ties, cultural exchange, and trade promotion during his visit.

He further stated that tensions between Pakistan and India have a direct impact on diaspora communities in the UK.

“The concerns within the British Pakistani community were so significant that the Pakistan High Commission received over 2,000 calls,” Lammy revealed.

During the visit, Lammy met with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Dar welcomed Lammy on his first official trip to Pakistan and held in-depth discussions on the regional situation and post-ceasefire developments.

Dar briefed Lammy on India’s provocative actions, describing them as violations of Pakistan’s sovereignty and breaches of the UN Charter. He affirmed that Pakistan’s response was in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, which pertains to the right of self-defense.

The Foreign Office also stated that Dar appreciated the UK's constructive diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over Pakistan-UK relations, including trade and development partnerships. Dar also acknowledged the UK’s cooperation in areas such as education, healthcare, and climate change mitigation.
