Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi decides not to take salary from Shehbaz-led govt

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's federal cabinet member, Mohsin Naqvi, who has the portfolio of Interior Minister, has decided not to take salary from the government.

After assuming the office, Naqvi said that it was an honour for him to serve the nation as the Federal Minister of Interior and Anti-Narcotics.

"In this difficult time, I am determined to serve my nation in every possible way," he added.

On the other hand, the newly-elected President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, has also decided not to withdraw his monthly salary of over Rs800,000 due to economic challenges being faced by the cash-strapped country.

"The President considered it essential not to burden the national exchequer and preferred to forgo his salary," the statement issued by the resident Secretariat Press Wing read.

"The purpose of President Asif Zardari's decision is to encourage prudent financial management in the country," the post stated.
