Federal Minister for Information, Atta Tarar, once again refuted PTI’s claims of injuries and deaths during the security forces’ operation against protesters on November 26. He also accused international media outlets of showing fake videos of the protest.
During a press conference on Saturday, the PML-N leader stated, "No one will receive amnesty; everyone will be held accountable." He added that PTI’s lies had been exposed on social media, where the party was continuously spreading propaganda to mislead the public.
“PTI only spreads falsehoods, and their primary objective is to create chaos and hinder the country’s development,” he said.
Tarar responded to claims made by PTI leaders, who alleged that they were targeted with sniper fire.
He pointed out that all TV channels showed these PTI leaders fleeing from D Chowk. “It has been three days since the protest, but PTI has not produced a single video showing snipers shooting from high-rise buildings,” he remarked.
He also criticised PTI for labeling the crackdown as a "massacre" and accused Imran Khan’s party of distorting the numbers of injured and deceased protesters.
Tarar further revealed that PTI’s social media accounts had used videos from the 2019 protests and visuals from Israeli atrocities in Gaza, misrepresenting them to spread false information.
He also condemned PTI for failing to condemn the deaths of Rangers and police personnel, who were run over by vehicles.
He stated that there is evidence proving PTI workers were firing at security forces with AK-47s, throwing tear gas shells at the police, and vandalising public property.
