A district and sessions court in Lahore on Friday rejected the Anti-Corruption Establishment's (ACE) plea seeking a 14-day physical remand of seniour journalist and YouTuber Imran Riaz Khan in a graft case.
Sessions Judge Imran Abid sent the renowned anchorperson on a 14-day judicial remand.
Last night, Imran Riaz was arrested by some men in 'plain clothes' from his residence in the Defense area of Lahore, his brother said.
Imran Riaz Khan and his father Asim Riaz were booked in the Tharabi Lake embezzlement case.
During the hearing, the journalist termed the graft case against him and his father 'baseless'.
Imran said that he acquired the lake's contract for Rs40 million more than the designated amount of Rs10.4 million.
The anchorperson, during the hearing, took a dig at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) seniour vice-president Maryam Nawaz, saying "They are trying to make Qureen happy by arresting me."
Imran's lawyer Azhar Siddique argued that the false First Information Report (FIR) was filed against his client. He added that Imran did not harm the national exchequer by acquiring the lake.
