A judicial commission investigating the deadly Gul Plaza fire has sent notices to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy, asking them to appear before it to record their statement.

The one-member commission, headed by Sindh High Court Justice Agha Faisal, said that it was important to begin proceedings by listening to the legal heirs of the deceased before taking up hearings of other affected or concerned individuals.

In its notice, the commission directed the heirs to attend a hearing scheduled for 11am on Monday, February 16, 2026. The session will take place at the office of the deputy commissioner South, located in the DC South Complex on M.A. Jinnah Road in Karachi.

The commission is also expected to inspect the building where the fire broke out on February 14.

The Sindh government formed the commission in consultation with the chief justice of the Sindh High Court to investigate the incident, determine the circumstances surrounding the blaze, and identify those responsible.
