The port city's Mayor Murtaza Wahab claimed that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) collected 144,000 tons of garbage and waste during three days of Eid-ul-Adha, surpassing Lahore's collection of 46,000 tons.

At a press conference in Karachi, the PPP leader said that the KMC had established 99 collection points and three landfill sites across the city's seven districts, which were cleared daily.

He praised the municipal staff for their tireless efforts, despite the scorching heat in the metropolis.

The Mayor highlighted that the KMC had increased development funds at the Union Council level from Rs500,000 to Rs1.2 million.

However, he added that resolving the city's 45-year-old problems would take time.

Mayor Wahab also addressed the water shortage in the district central, saying that the issue happened due to a large leakage in the University Reservoir.

He assured that the issue would be resolved within 36 hours.

In a response to criticism from the Punjab government, Mayor Karachi said that the local government representatives, who have limited resources, were working in the megapolis, "not the Chief Minister."

The Mayor also lauded the Sindh government for providing funding to complete ongoing schemes across the province.

He reaffirmed the KMC's commitment to overcoming challenges and improving the city's infrastructure.
