Karachi cop abducted after gun attack on police van in DHA

A policeman was briefly abducted on Monday after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police mobile in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
According to media reports, the incident occurred in DHA Phase 8, Khayaban-e-Arafat, during the checking of a suspicious vehicle.
The police said that when officers attempted to stop the car, its occupants opened fire and forced Head Constable Muhammad Ishaq into their vehicle at gunpoint.
The assailants drove around with the officer for nearly an hour before abandoning him near New Sabzi Mandi on the outskirts of the city. Ishaq later reached Sahil Police Station using a ride-hailing service.
As per sources, Ishaq Jatoi was subjected to torture during his captivity.

The police said the suspects also snatched the officer’s mobile phone, cash, service card, and other belongings before releasing him. His official weapon was lost during the struggle.
An FIR has been registered at the Sahil Police Station under charges of terrorism, kidnapping, attempted murder, and other offenses against four unidentified men.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and have launched operation to trace the suspects’ vehicle.
