A resident of Karachi's Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area successfully tracked down the robbers using the tracking feature on his stolen iPhone.

The victim, named Manan Saeed, was mugged by two criminals outside his home in Akhtar Colony.

According to the CCTV footage of the incident, the accused robbed Manan and other persons.

After Saeed tracked down the muggers' location by using a tracking feature in his stolen iPhone, the Defence Police conducted a raid on their hideout. However, the suspects managed to escape.

The cops chased them and the pursuit led to a police encounter in which the two brothers, Farid and Farhan, were injured and arrested.

The police recovered two pistols, a stolen motorcycle, four mobile phones, iPads, and six watches from the suspects.

Police investigations revealed that the arrested brothers were involved in numerous snatching incidents.

With street crime on the rise in the metropolis, residents are taking matters into their own hands, either by apprehending criminals on the spot or circulating CCTV footage on social media to identify them.

Karachi has seen a staggering 16,000 street crimes in just the first three months of this year, according to statistics reported at the Sindh cabinet's inaugural meeting on March 13.
