A fire erupted in a pipeline at Korangi Creek and continued to rage despite hours of relentless efforts by firefighters. After several hours of struggle, the blaze is yet to be brought under control.
Officials stated that they were using foam to reduce the intensity of the flames. However, fire tenders were called in from across the city as the blaze was classified as a third-degree fire due to its high intensity.
Fire Officer Muhammad Zafar expressed uncertainty about the exact source of the fire, stating that they were unable to locate the gas line connection that had caught fire. He added, “We sprayed water on the flames, but they kept flaring up.”
Videos shared from the spot showed sporadic bursts of flames

Zafar stated that there was a hole at the spot which needed to be fixed by dumping sand in it, as flames were emerging from within it.
On the other hand, police suspect the gas pipeline was damaged during excavation for boring water, causing intense fire.
The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) staff arrived at the scene to identify the source of the fire.
To control the fire, Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori directed Commissioner Karachi via telephone conversation to ensure the provision of the helicopter as soon as possible.
He also asked him to provide all facilities to the fire brigade to expedite the operation.
Smoke and flames from the fire were visible from various locations, including Defence Phase 8.
