After a prolonged wait, winter has finally arrived in Karachi, with cooler nights settling over the city in recent days.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a further drop in temperature, indicating that the port city is likely to experience chilly nights in the coming days.

According to the three-day weather forecast, Karachi’s temperature is expected to dip as low as 17°C, with daytime weather remaining mostly dry.

The minimum temperature recorded in the last 24 hours was 17.8°C, and it is predicted to stay between 17°C and 19°C on December 3 and 4. The city is currently experiencing moderate humidity levels of 58%, accompanied by light northeast winds.

The weather office also predicts light rain or drizzle in the districts of Kambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, and Larkana today, with the mercury possibly dropping to 16°C in upper Sindh’s northern districts later in the week.

Meanwhile, Balochistan has seen a further drop in temperatures following rain and hailstorms in the northeastern districts.

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) reported that the hailstorm in Duki District set a new record, breaking a 42-year-old record. The storm caused significant damage to hundreds of solar panels and trees in the region.

Cold winds have swept across the province, pushing temperatures as low as -3°C in Chaman's Kan Mehtarzai area.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) anticipates temperatures could plunge to as low as -7°C in Balochistan’s upper northern districts, near the border.
