The Karachi Transport Ittehad on Sunday announced an end to its strike, with public transport set to resume normal operations across the city from tomorrow.
The decision came after a key meeting between representatives of the KTI and the Commissioner Karachi to resolve issues faced by transporters.
According to media reports, the transporters’ demand for a two-month extension regarding the biometric verification process during vehicle transfers was accepted during the meeting.
Officials also assured transporters that the issue concerning the Rs12,000 third-party insurance payment would be resolved.
The meeting also included discussions on various transport-related matters, with both sides agreeing to meet again after 15 days to review progress and discuss further developments.
The reports said the KTI will soon hold a consultative meeting with its member organisations to deliberate on the government’s assurances and chalk out its future course of action.
