Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has said that former DG ISI Lt Gen (R) Faiz Hameed was an employee of a state institution, and if he has been punished over any matter, it is an internal affair of that institution.

Speaking to the media after visiting the PTI founder in Adiala Jail, the KP chief minister said the PTI founder always talks about strengthening Pakistan and its institutions.

“If those in authority understand this, they should come forward and hold dialogue with us,” he said, adding that the PTI founder has authorized Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas to lead political negotiations. “We will stand by every decision of Mehmood Khan Achakzai,” he added.

Afridi said that despite court orders, even a chief minister is not being allowed to meet the PTI founder. “What happened two days ago with the PTI founder’s sisters was carried out on the orders of the Punjab Chief Minister. The PTI founder and his wife are being kept in jail without justification,” he claimed.

The KP CM further stated that for three and a half years efforts have been underway to sideline the PTI founder. “Since 1947 the same formula has been repeated again and again, but since April 9, 2022 they have faced a nation that loves the PTI founder,” he said. “We want an independent judiciary and the restoration of true democracy.

He added that the current government’s performance is such that the youth are fleeing the country. “The experiment that has been run for the last three and a half years has failed miserably,” he concluded.
