KP CM Sohail Afridi to visit Sindh as PTI announces rally in Karachi

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday announced plans to hold a public rally on Karachi’s Shahrah-i-Quaideen on Sept 6, as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is set to lead the party’s central leadership on a four-day tour of Sindh.

PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh said at a press conference in Karachi that CM Afridi and other central leaders would arrive in Sindh on Sept 3 and receive a welcome at Kamoon Shaheed at 11am.

The delegation would then travel through several cities, reaching Naushehro Feroze from Jacobabad on Sept 4, Hyderabad on Sept 5 and Karachi on Sept 6, Sheikh said. He said the party would organise public gatherings in different cities as part of its ongoing street movement, culminating in a major rally on Shahrah-i-Quaideen.

Sheikh said the PTI hoped to obtain official permission for the Karachi rally but would hold it even if permission was denied. He said the event would coincide with Defence Day and that the party would raise issues concerning Pakistan’s defence and the rights of its citizens.

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, who also addressed the press conference, announced that the party would observe Sept 27 as Democracy Day and hold protests demanding the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.

He urged people to continue speaking up for their rights, saying the party’s struggle was not limited to a single day but concerned the country’s future.
