The KP government has approved a Ramazan Support Package under which more than one million low-income families will receive Rs12,500 each through digital payments.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by CM Sohail Afridi. According to authorities, approximately 1.063 million households would benefit from it.
Shafi Jan, special assistant for information in KP, stated that priority would be given to widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, transgenders, and victims of natural disasters or terrorism. Meanwhile, government and semi-government employees will not qualify for the relief package.
Officials reported that the initiative aims to ease financial pressure caused by rising prices of commodities in the holy month, especially for low-income families.
Furthermore, the cabinet also approved a Rs496 million grant for families of 190 martyred military officials under the Shuhada Package, as well as financial aid for patients suffering from complex and costly diseases.
The cabinet further approved the KP Women Empowerment Policy 2026-2030 and education initiatives such as restoring 325 inactive IT labs and providing internet access to 958 schools to boost digital and AI-based learning.
