In a shocking incident of fraud and exploitation, a man in Lahore allegedly contracted a fake marriage with a British citizen to steal her wealth.

Police said the woman, named Zaib-un-Nisa, filed a case against her husband Sajid Maqsood for deceitfully marrying her during her visit to Pakistan in 2023.

The victim, in the FIR, said that she had come to Pakistan a year earlier to take care of her ailing mother.

The complainant alleged that after their marriage, her husband took possession of her jewelry, property worth Rs22.5 million, her car, and other valuables without her "knowledge or consent".

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had a history of deceitful marriages, with the complainant being his fifth wife.

He had allegedly married and swindled four other women before her, the law enforcers added.

The complainant has also accused the investigating officer of supporting the suspect and has appealed to the Punjab inspector general to take notice of the matter.
