In compliance with the Supreme Court's orders, the Pakistan Army has conducted a detailed court of inquiry into the complaints against Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed in the Top City Case.
The development was shared by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement issued on Monday.
"Complying with the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan, a detailed court of inquiry, was undertaken by Pakistan Army, to ascertain [the] correctness of complaints in Top City Case made against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd)," the statement read.
The military's media wing further said that the inquiry carried out by the forces found sufficient evidence to initiate disciplinary action against the retired general under the Pakistan Army Act.
"Consequently, appropriate disciplinary action has been initiated against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd), under provisions of Pakistan Army Act.
"In addition, multiple instances of violation of Pakistan Army Act post-retirement have also been established."
The army has initiated the process of Field General Court Martial against the former spyman after taking him into military custody.
On November 8, 2023, the Supreme Court disposed of an application filed by the owner of Top City housing scheme, Moeez Ahmad Khan, against Lt former DG ISI and his assistants.
The court remarked that the petitioner should approach the relevant forum, including the Ministry of Defence, for redressal of grievances.
The petition alleged that on May 12, 2017, Pakistan Rangers and ISI personnel raided the office of Top City and Moeez Khan's residence, seizing gold, diamond jewelry, and cash.
The petitioner claimed that Mr Hameed arranged a meeting with him, promising to return some items except 400 tolas of gold and cash.
The petition further stated that retired ISI officials Brigadier (retd) Naeem Fakhar and Brigadier (retd) Ghaffar allegedly forced Mr Moeez to pay Rs 400 million in cash and sponsor a private news channel 'Aap TV Network' for a few months.
According to the petition, former ISI officials Irtza Haroon, Waseem Tabish, Zahid Mehmood Malik and Muhammad Muneer were also involved in the illegal abduction of the owner of the private housing society.
The SC bench, comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Aminuddin, and Justice Athar Minallah, observed that the matter did not pertain to the enforcement of fundamental rights.
The court advised the petitioner to file a case against Faiz Hameed and other retired officers in a civil or criminal court for malicious prosecution.
Following the SC's order, the Pakistan Army has initiated a probe into the allegations and the process of Field General Court Martial against Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed.
